The freezing cold, pouring rain, and blinding sun.
The heartbreaking losses and exhilarating wins.

Here’s to finally getting that front row spot
after waiting three years for it.
Here’s to the poor timing on kickoff spirit fingers
and breaking the bleachers not once, but twice.

Here’s to wearing ridiculous outfits.
To painting a flag on your face
and wearing a coconut bra.
Here’s to going along with everything the cheerleaders do.
To trying to master the Beat of Defeat cheer,
even though you mess up every time.

Thank you for making dead Friday nights lively.
Thank you for teaching me what true school spirit is.
And thank you for showing me how to not get embarrassed.
