Just The Way It Was
Ode to the hugs,
the type that were warm,
they warmed you up deep down,
down where you feel lonely.
Ode to the eyes,
the eyes that were like a night sky,
that was starry,
and they all shined so bright.
Ode to the smile,
that was irresistible to look at,
but when you did look you can’t help but smile,
like a lovestruck fool.
Ode to the voice,
that was soft,
soft and sweet like a little treat,
a treat that you couldn’t get enough of.
Ode to the way she laughed,
the laugh that is rare,
like seeing two doves together,
just like doves her laugh gets scared away too easy.
Ode to the favorite songs,
that can get you to dance,
dance like nobody's watching,
an go back to your childhood.
Ode to the way she danced,
as if it’s nobody but me and her,
as if it didn't matter what others say,
as if she was her own person.
Ode to the way she made me feel,
like my mood couldn’t be changed by anybody,
like I just won the lottery,
like the world was going by in slow motion.
