This piece of paper given to me
Resembles the place I used to be,
The moment I had to leave,
was the day after christmas eve.

My heart ached after I was dragged
away from my grandfather
and I gagged,
as our suitcases were being
thrown,
on the conveyor belt,
and I annoyed my mother as I asked
for one final glimpse of my grandfather.’

At my parent’s request
this paper was given
I thought it would be the best
but I didn’t realize everyone else
would have to be left behind
and I would have to free my mind
of the day I would have to leave
so that I would not grieve.

This piece of paper given to me
resembles the place I used to be

This reminds me of my past of when I used to live in India and I had to leave all my relatives, friends, memories, and home to move to America. The piece of paper I write about is a transfer certificate given to me to be able to end school in India in the middle of the year and move to America. This piece of paper has given me many good and bad memories. Because of the paper, my life had turned into something that I had never anticipated before.
