Where I'm From
I am from hills, from ameristep and yamaha
I am from the small country side
I am from the sunflowers, the grain
I am from the tree stand and large in size, from Domke and Francis and Kennedy
I am from the family dinners and bonding time
From princess and mud queen
I am from Trinity Episcopal Church, among old folks and wrinkled smiles
I’m from Alpena, steak and salad
From the time I jumped off a bridge enclosed by darkness, the seeping wet clothes clenched to my body, and the smile on my cousin’s faces.
I am from the smiles on the plastic stuffed in a box, memories left on the country road, and the extreme beauty behind every sunrise, along with each and every laugh.
