We rush along in our monotone lives

always trying to get somewhere,

merely to leave so we can rush again

guzzling down bubbly chemicals

that convince our bodies to stay on the run.

We ignore the complex, sparkling masterpeice

the stars have painted us

We blast away the hidden secrets

that whisper through the branches of ancestoral trees

We forbid the sun to kiss our cold skin

instead forcing it to scorch us

because we have this absurd idea of altering beauty

Whether it's to destroy the home which concieved us

or our own simplistic nature that begs

to sit

watch

listen

appreciate

The author's comments:

People never appreciate the beauty of our world or even ourselves anymore. Whenever someone tries to slow down and smile, they are scolded and shoved to rush once again. It's sad
