Willow
We had all the time in the world
We had the world
How could those trees be weeping.
Like monkeys, the kids would hang from the tree
It seemed like the green covered moss branches hung from the clouds
It made you feel as if you were flying.
The long branches hung down like curtains to cover the dirt brown trunk
The willow brought so much joy to the children’s eyes
As the wind moved through the sky
The willow wept, and swayed side to side.
You could wrap both your arms around the tree
And have more than half the trunk left.
The willow created so many happy memories,
Kids had endless love for the tree.
Including me.
But I still wondered
Why the willow wept the way that it did.
I just didn’t know
The willow
Was waiting
For them
To cut
It
Down.
