Oak Tree Me
I peered up through the spacey oaks
as the sun looked down on me.
I began my stroll down Oliver Road.
When told to observe the world around,
you see so much more than yourself.
I see the beauty I’ve always overlooked.
To the right I see little boys learning to skate,
to the left I see two immature squirrels chasing each others tails,
and all around I absorb the gusts of winds.
Down below I hear crumpling of leaves,
that have fallen from withering trees above.
An opening that welcomes more sunlight.
I kicked an acorn and came to see,
big things have small beginnings.
The shadows of the trees agree.
