Listen To Me
We can
never be champions.
Who says we will,
there's always someone to beat you
it doesn't matter that
you're pushing your talents full force
all of your tear-inducing mishaps stacked up but
you don't seem to have clarity:
not everyone is born to be a victor
ignore the ones that'll whisper
delve into the exhilirating unknown
it's more gratifying to
be realistic
what's wrong with predictable?
but will you recognize
you aren't what you've made yourself to up to be
you're miles from special
there will be those to proclaim
you're worth more than the king's gold
but they're mistaken
they say to just remain in your microcosm of a comfort zone
and the rest will fall into place
listen to me
(now read from bottom to top, love.)

As I've gotten older, I've realized that I feel as though I have so many different bosses: teachers, parents, siblings, etc. I've been told that my dreams or goals are out of the question, and that I should shift my focus toward life goals that are more "stable". I've been told what I should and shouldn't care about and what I should and shouldn't chase after. But then I slowly realized that what was really holding me back from chasing what I want was the fact that I would dwell on what they would say instead of fighting it. The moment I flipped my perspective and knew I was more capable then I was given credit for, I took everything they said and reversed it. Now, I have more confidence in myself than ever before.
