“Self-Pollution”
What if life was easy?
Being “happy”, is certainly not simple.
As I mature, I start to realize why intelligent people
can turn to drugs and alcohol for emotional support.
When feeling down, I confront my family for advice,
while most of my family asks cigarettes and alcohol for advice.
Family can be forgivable, while drugs and alcohol cannot.
The deathly stench of cigarettes,
the medicine-like aroma of alcohol.
Do not use these practically useless items.
Each puff, each drink, could put you one foot deeper into the earth.
A cigarette is like a miniature smokestack,
polluting yourself as a smokestack pollutes the earth.
Even though death can come knocking on your front door,
They continue to use these, almost mindlessly,
since it has become a daily habit.
