Pinecones
A
pine cone lying
on the ground
is at the end of its life.
doomed to lay in
the dirt for months
Its brown layers
opened, like branches
mimicking the tree
it may one day become.
The tree makes the pine cone
as 1 of 100.
Once it grows up,
it is cast out to the ground,
useless to anyone,
except itself.
If luck has its way,
there may be some hope.
A tree could grow
with it will come
more green, more air,
more worthless pine cones.
