My Dearest Dad
I buried my father in the sky.
With every blow of the wind
his soul spreads through the universe
The stars that shine bright at night
warm my heart and make me smile
Angels that fly throughout him
keep wonderful company
A shooting star is him
blowing me a kiss.
I buried my father underground.
where his remains seep into the Earth
The cherry wood holds him comfortably
In a gentlemen’s tux, laid in satin
where it’s dark and the ground creaks
Through the four seasons
The stone upright to the dirt does
not represent him
Where I do not feel him.
I buried my father in my heart.
Now he grows in me
The only place I can hear
The only place I can see
I will conquer our dreams
and live for my sister
I know he’s not here but i’ll never forget
The way I lived through him
Now he’s alive through me.
