I Don't Know
I don’t know what tomorrow brings
or the next day or the next
it’s presumably the greatest mystery
nobody knows what will happen next
I don’t know who I’ll be
in 10, 20, even 30 years
I know of dreams I have
that I will be where I want to be
but those are only dreams
I don’t know where I’ll be
when the future becomes the present
will I be far away from home?
But home is where the heart is
will I ever leave home then?
I don’t know what I’ll have.
Things that I love seem limited,
things that I don’t feel germane
My wants remain vague
even as time to decide diminishes
Life is truly a mystery
filled with unknowns
that seem to grow as I grow
it brings up another unknown,
will I ever find my answers?
I believe there will always be unknowns
when I think about my future…
so it’s best to live in the present.
Yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery,
but today is a gift, that’s why it’s called the present.
