This golden chain
With two disks and pearls
came in a box while I was in the hospital.

Since I had so much morphine in my system
My brain did not notice that it even existed,
till i was sober enough to figure it out.
This shiny, tiny necklace represents,
Power, strength, courage, peace, and balance
In my life.

This tiny gift from a former teacher made me feel
Sorrow (gloom)
For the ones that I lost,
Pride for how far I have come since that day,
Balanced for how steady I am with my emotions,
And peace for knowing that everything will be
okay.
