She was a queen
She claimed she and no need,
No need for earthly things
Wanted to cut her puppet s t r i n g s
No need to find a home
Claimed she was content alone
She always did love birds

She claimed that she could f
Even though no one ever seemed to ask why
I am a fool boy
On the sidelines
I'll be old, and retried
Still stuck on the side lines
And we woke on summers day to find that she had gone
I guess I saw this coming
I have known it all along
And though the trees bared witness
The s k y refused to tell
The pebbles all lay s h a t t e r e d
The birds don't sing as well
One spectator who had seen it,
Said the story played out swell
She laid upon the ground,
Breathed in the dusk and dawn
And one summers day,
We awoke to find
That she had g o n e
