Whipping Wind
The deep dark layers of black and blue,
rolled over each other
and were heading our way.
Our bikes with many miles on them
from a long day across Michigan,
found shelter under the school roof.
My cousin and I darted back into our tent
to beat the rain.
Right as the tent was zipped shut
the wind came.
left
right
up
down
We held the tent up
against the strong wind and rain.
We grabbed the blankets,
pillows,
food,
and bravely unzipped the tent.
We stepped out and ventured into the unknown.
The warm whipping wind
hit my face a million times,
and the rain pummeled down.
We slowly made our way back to the school
to find better shelter,
and we felt like ragged adventurers.
but we were safe now
and that's all that matters.
