I stood, waiting in line, listening to screams in the distance
The cart rolled forward, and jerked to a sudden stop.
A sign with black letters, and bright red surrounding it in the distance read, “Top Thrill Dragster”.

I glanced back at the people waiting in the hot sun
I used to be one of them, waiting for my turn, and now was my time
It was my time to muster up and climb into the cart.

Step after step, I approached uncertainty.
Step after step, I became more cautious.
Step after step, I knew there was no turning back.

I strapped into my seat feeling like an astronaut before liftoff.
I looked over to my dad, who smiled at me and laughed
Music began to blare, and I stared forward at the tall, looming, tower
Right in front of us stood a traffic light, with 4 lights
Oh, how that light seemed to be a death sentence
For when the light went green, we would fly to the sky
Fear and anxiety flooded through me like waves approaching a beach shore

Suddenly, a loud, manly voice counted down, “3.. 2.. 1..”
The light changed before I could blink
ZOOM!
We began flying forward .
Wind was rushing through my hair, and I was glued to the back of my seat.
Then we started to head upwards, we started our journey into the sky
Screams from the passengers were all to be heard,
Wispy clouds and the blue sky were all to be seen,
Wind blowing across your face was all to be felt.

We reached the peak of the tower almost instantly
Landis 2
The view of the entire world could be seen
The lake, the rides, the buildings, and the ground.
Oh, the sweet and safe ground,
how much I wish I could be there, instead of suspended in the air.

As we began our descent back down to Earth, my stomach dropped
My face went numb from the wind
I held on with the grip of a death to the handles
We were a meteor about to crash into the pavement
flying straight down, heading for the Earth.

Soon we crashed,
But I was safe and sound.

And I looked over to my distraught dad, with a smile from ear to ear.
