Where Im From
I am from a family of seven
from traditional family values
I am from searching for the pickle on Christmas day.
I am from warm fuzzy creatures sitting on my head
from my dog begging for treats.
I am from adolescence looking for someone to play ball with,
always flooded with rejection.
I am from the sun and clouds painted in my room
from wondering where I put my blanket.
I am from brothers who won't tell me where they hid my games
I am from tripping down the stairs
from dropping a gallon of milk, to many messes
I am from a lot of miserable time outs
I am from learning from my messups
from “Plz, give me one more chance,”
I am from better luck next time.
I am from blackouts during storms
from having bright roaring fires out back with friends
I am from close relationships
I am from a family of seven
from relatable family values
I am from searching for the pickle on Christmas day.
