As I walk through the marsh
I feel calm and collected
I love the smell of nature's breath
All the animals seem so connected
And as I look closely as the spider
Crawls out of my net
I realize that there is so much more than that
There are countless macro-organisms
And double that infinity of micro ones
How can we even begin to define the toll
Of human manipulation of the planet
Without thinking about every single life we've taken
To get here
Every snail population endemic to a single Marsh
Every time we eat food from our Iowan fields
We are eating from land that is a burial ground
For murdered victims
From one killer
Humans
But it doesn't have to end there
We can change things every day
Each decision that we make
Can impact the entire world
If a million people think that they shouldn't do something
Because as an individual they won't make an impact
They're wrong
Each individual is part of our connected whole
Each part can move and make a difference
We just need to choose
If we want to lose
all biodiversity on earth
For moderate comfort
Or if we will take a stand
And change the way we
Use the land
And we need to decide
Every day until we die
How much a life is worth
How much billions and trillions of
Miraculous lives are worth
So count each living thing you see
As a blessing
Don't take it for granted
Make a difference
And change your world
