Butterfly
Butterfly
Wings fluttering
Thrashing to escape
Heart pounding
Threatening to accelerate
Held in the child's hands
Tickle as it may
It's the butterflies dismay
In the arms of her lover
The only comforting hold
But her love is bold
For the child
The game is over
Dead is the butterfly
But for her
It is not
The butterflies return
In his arms
The butterflies are trapped
Giving her pleasure
Just as it had as a child
Away from him
They escape
Burning her from the inside out
The payback
Missing him
More than that child she once was
Missing the butterflies she had once possessed
Wishing that those were the only ones that she could feel
Now
