You Said
You said
I remember the day you spit it in my face that you didn’t want me anymore.
Three weeks later you sat at my lunch table with those same beautiful eyes and captivating heart.
You said, “Come back. I miss you.”
So I did.
I remember the day you grabbed my wrist and rubbed it as if you were rubbing away the hurt.
Your beautiful eyes were filled with the pain I was feeling.
You guided your fingers to my hand and held it there.
You said, “Don’t hurt yourself anymore.”
So I stopped.
I remember the day you came to my locker and my eyes met your lips and your eyes met my own for a second too long.
I could’ve kissed you then, but there was too much hesitation and not enough desperation.
You said, “Trust me.”
So I did.
I remember all the things, and all the memories that I am in love with.
Whenever I find it hard to tell if I am in love with the memories or with you, I just have to look into those eyes of yours.
Your eyes hold all the things you told me to do, and all the things you didn’t. I fell in love with your eyes, and then you.
I realize now that it shouldn’t be like that. I should not have to listen to your beautiful eyes
Or lose my anger in that captivating heart.
When I told you I couldn’t keep
Losing myself in you,
You said, “You’re worth fighting for.”
And for a second, I almost believed you.
