There’s an elephant in the room
You call it a mouse,
Small. Insignificant.
You actively choose to ignore it.

The elephant is moving about
You say it’s not relevant,
It crashes into things
Breaking them. Shattering them.

The elephant trumpets
Piercing my eardrums,
You say it is only a whisper…
It gets louder
But you call it a whine

The elephant is trapped
In a cage too small for it,
It’s only a matter of time…
Before the cage finally breaks
And the elephant is free once again

Conflict is something that is a part of our daily life and this is a poem about that.
