"I am a writer. We are the people who stay up past 12 AM finishing a story. We're misunderstood and underpaid. We spend our free time fixing plots. But we bring to life characters and a world society never knew about. I'm a writer and I love it."

Normal people would look up
Flinch, at the sound of that word
But in this support group
It's the only word said
The only thing thought
We don't flinch in support group

The word floats through our heads
Screaming, yelling
It's a not-so-little voice in our head
And we're going insane
But we're becoming immune
We don't flinch in support group

The word is part of us
It defines us
Alcohol, drugs
Cancer, death
Suicide, abuse
We don't flinch in support group

The word doesn't have to exist
We can end whatever it is
We're not afraid to talk about it
We're not afraid to do something about it
We're not afraid to stand up
We don't flinch in support group
