Outsiders
A while ago I theorized
That it's utterly impossible to look cool
Taking pictures through and iPad camera lens.
But as I look around, I ponder-
How do we define "cool?"
Do we all interperet the word differently?
Also, is it only iPads?
I was strolling through a museum
With my mother some days ago
And she offered me her opinion
Of those who photograph artwork-
Striving to own their prestige
Rather than revel in their beauty.
I glanced up from my idle hands
To see the world around me,
And saw people photographing, rather than feeling.
That's the thing with photos-
They look better through a lens
Because it isolates you
And, for a moment, you're alone in the world.
But to those around you,
You're just another in the universe,
Striving desperately to be someone
That exists only in your mind.
