Longing

A wind rips through my soul
And out into my brain
Where it rests to paint a picture
Of something yet to be had
Realizing that that something is still a nothing
Outside of my tumultuous thoughts
The wind bellows into my heart
Weeping with sheer pain
For this is more than just a wish or hope
It is longing coursing through my veins

But wait, there is something else
Alas it’s romance
A long and ugly foe
For it doesn’t make visits to me
Only them
From the stories of society
Which lie braggingly in my brain
The love
Etched deep into their life
Is barely smeared into mine
Still
I search for its presence to no avail
Apparently
Not every life is a fairy tale

Outside the thoughts of others bounce into my brain
A scholar like her wouldn’t need love
They are wrong
Grades occupy my free time
Choking it to death
But
An abyss soon appears
It can’t help but fill with longing
For it’s all that it left
Except romance
Which comes breezing by
But catches on fire
Just to create a storm
An endless storm of longing
How can it be extinguished?

Leave nothing but footprints,
Take nothing but pictures,
Kill nothing but time.

I like how the poem goes and doesn't lose the thought, also it is nicely ended with this question. ''An abyss soon appears It can’t help but fill with longing For it’s all that it left Except romance'' ; very good
