Life Is Worth It
How can your lungs give you so many breaths to take, yet you don’t want to take them?
How can someone love you so much, yet you refuse to believe that you could ever be loved?
How can life hold you so many years, yet every year is another battle you have to fight through?
How can you have so much joy in your life, yet you would rather drown in all your sadness?
How can you have so many friends, yet feel like you are all alone?
How can you not accept the compliments so many give you, yet you can hold on to every negative thing anyone has ever told you?
How can life give you so much, yet you feel like you have so little?
Maybe it's because you were broken at such a young age,
All your innocence was taken and written on another page.
In a book that holds every secret from your past.
How long are these flashbacks going to last?
Maybe it’s because the doctor spoke those three little words,
Every word after those, only the doctor heard.
Because you and your family are depressed by the news,
And all you can think is why did this have to happen to you?
Maybe it's because you were left all alone,
Facing the fights that you should have never been shown.
Putting the pieces together when you should be playing outside,
Covering up your bruises with a smile that was so wide.
Maybe it's because the person you loved got up and left,
Stealing every ounce of your trust.
You try to rebuild that bond with everyone you meet,
It's not easy when you are overcome with defeat.
Maybe it's because the kids you were suppose to call your friends,
Saw you were getting called names, and thought it was the new trend.
They bring you down, by calling you names.
Do they know that your life isn’t a game?
Maybe its because you have what seems like a perfect life but nothing seems right.
It’s you and your mind constantly in a fight.
You can’t explain how you feel,
But something inside says, “Just skip another meal.”
I don’t know what your reason may be,
But I understand because so much has happened to me.
I’m not here to tell you that everything will be alright,
Because I know how it feels to feel so hopeless at night.
I’m not here to tell you to hold back the pain.
I know that happiness, no matter how hard you try, is so hard to obtain.
I’m here to tell you that you are not alone,
So many of us feel this way, your struggles are not unknown.
If we all just took a moment and closed our eyes,
Took a deep breath and let out a cry.
Cry as hard as you want, take as long as you need.
For once, why don’t we all do ourselves a great deed.
If we just take that moment and focus on what’s important,
Then maybe this life will start to feel worth it.
