Mirage

Sometimes I feel myself slipping away

Caught up in a mirage

Caught up in things that don't matter

Sometimes the real picure evaporates

And replaces it with emptiness, for a moment or two

Before it comes back

It can be hard to know which vision is real

Or possible

And which are only in my head

The wind sweeps through our lives

And changes the foundation, in time,

To new images

Sometimes the old linger too

And we can keep them in sight if we choose

Or take a new direction,

And let them drift behind.

This poem is about fears, changes and expectations. It's also about letting go of worries, the things we can't predict.
