Oh, Chocolate
I drown in creamy lusciousness yet again
Warmth envelops me slowly as I fall into bliss
A world of velvety brown nestled deep in your rich embrace
Sugar dances smoothly on my tongue with every lingering taste
Oh, chocolate.
Oh, chocolate; oh, chocolate
You exist in a plethora of ways
Ice cream and candy and pastries and pie
Fueling my confectionary craze
Oh, chocolate; oh, chocolate
You are a pure delight
I crave your feather-soft caress on my lips
And your abs are a heavenly sight
Oh, chocolate; oh, chocolate
No one and nothing compares
More exquisite than caramel and flavourful than coffee
Laced with surprises in every square
Oh, chocolate; oh, chocolate
This love just can’t be
You are my toxic kryptonite
But you cure each and every disease
Oh, chocolate; oh, chocolate
Our euphoria will never last
To ensure my desires are satisfied
Our time together must pass
I indulge in delectable ecstasy yet again
Joy engulfs me fleetingly as I cherish this moment
A utopia of scrumptious cocoa tries to consumes my stress
Imminent pain begins to return with every bittersweet second
Oh, chocolate.

The inspiration for this piece is quite obvious - chocolate!
Chocolate is one of my favourite foods, and definitely the default flavour I choose when eating anything sweet. Of course, it's necessary to come to the "painful" realization that unfortunately, everyone needs to limit their consumption of sugary foods and other unhealthy snacks. Personally, this is an extremely arduous feat, and therefore I savor every chance that I can fuel my "addiction" (albeit with a copious amount of melodrama).
I believe that I'm not alone; surely, there are many teens who share this great love for chocolaty treats. To be honest, it's perfectly healthy for anyone to feel in such a way! This poem is a playful ode to a mouthwatering delicacy, as well as a light-hearted callout to make a connection with people who can relate to this special quirk.
