they still don't love us
what we think we can't live without is what’s killing us.
who we think we can’t live without,
or couldn’t breathe without
are taking our oxygen out of our atmosphere
concealing,
hiding
who we are.
changing who we are to please who we think matter.
but they still don’t love us
we hide our own identity.
slowly losing our world.
until we are only left with the remnants of what could have been,
of what we once wanted.
we so easily lose ourselves in the prospect of gaining love,
and admiration.
but they still don’t love us.
we demand
the love from people who don't love us back.
changing our world so that other people can live in it.
but they still don’t love us.
we think that’s what we need,
what will make us happy,
and keep us alive.
but all it’s doing is killing us.
and they still don’t love us
