Her bitter tragedies people ignore

she's nothing but a forgotten, snake-bitten whore

some pass by feigning to not hear her cries

while others claim they "see so much more in her eyes"

but the soul behind them is shattered beyond repair

and all they truly see is her dull blank stare

I choose to believe that the feet show much more

rough callouses from long hours of work and chore

like the scab on her toe from when she thought he wouldn't dare

and he dragged her across his threshold snarling "life isn't fair"

or the cracked nail, haphazardly coated and painted

from trying to escape from her memories now morbid and tainted

dirt, grime, and glass mingle together on her flesh

blood matting them down from a wound made fresh

but her own bitter tragedies she will ignore

because she thinks she's just a forgotten, snake-bitten whore.
