Goodbye, my love
Goodbye my love
for there is nothing more
left to say, for putting to words what is left is
like trying to play a guitar
out of tune
So, goodbye my love
for all that is what you are
Though that word is too small
to encapsulate all that we mean
all that we could have been, and
yet it’s just another cage that we are
put into, bound and gagged and
left gasping for the
life we so carelessly threw away
and now it’s too late.
So, goodbye my love
because what we have is
bigger than these petty goodbyes,
It’s deeper than a yellow star
and a brown cross which is why
the tears blotting these insignificant
words are not those of regret but
of the celebration of all
that has been and all that I know
Someday we will be, but until then
Goodbye, my love
because you were a fool
to fall in love with me and
because their hate
was not stronger
than our love and yet
Goodbye, my love
because at the end, to them
I’m just a Jew and
You’re just a Christian.
