How To Skateboard
Begin by explaining to your mom why she should let you buy a skateboard
Promise her that you will wear a helmet
Never wear a helmet
Go buy a skateboard
Choose your preferred size
Not too big, not too small
Pick a deck that best suits your style
Pick something simple, not too crazy
Pick simple wheels
Don’t pick black wheels, they never look right
Choose what trucks you want
Purchase grip tape
Plain ones are great for starters
Enjoy how great and simple your board looks
Take it for a spin
Go to a empty parking lot
Be aware of potential bails and falls
Start with a simple kick and push
Keep the rhythm going
Speed things up a bit
Practice leaning forward and back to turn
Get a good, comfortable feeling of the board
Don’t rush, keep on practicing
Try to perform an ollie
Stay still
Back foot on the tail
Bend your knees
Pop the tail, jump
Kick slightly forward
Land on the bolts
Do the exact opposite and fall
Keep falling
Get angry
Throw your board
But don’t give up, persevere
Land an ollie, and call it a day
