Every Night

Every night, holding still,

I have come to while I slept

A place of places far and wide

A place where others dare not step

Walking through a maze of colors,

it feels as if I'm in a dream.

The nightmares start to wrap around me,

The world is tearing at the seams

I gaze into the pictures all around

that map the half-remembered places

Now looming up in front of me,

wait the forgotten shadow faces.

Horribly lost in the blue

twisting, turning. tossed around

I float, feeling confused and dazed,

not knowing which is up or down.

Spectating up so close

I see the kind and violent collide,

The swarming sadness all concealed

beneath your shiny, bright blue eyes.
