1.

Falling, falling, endlessly falling.
I have yet to reach the bottom,
Of this infernal hole.
Why did I follow that rabbit in the first place?
If I had known what I know now,
Maybe I wouldn’t be so distressed.
It was through no fault but my own,
That I ended up falling down this abyss.

2.

Curiosity killed the cat, and maybe it would kill me too.
The puzzle of the rabbit tormented me unceasingly.
In the morning; still in the clutches of sleep
And under the cloak of night before I close my eyes,
The thoughts spring on me without warning.
Without even realizing it,
I would fantasize about finally catching that rabbit.
I would dream and plan and scheme and plot and think.
That was always the problem.
Thinking.

3.

You only want what you can’t have, and I wanted nothing more than this.
It’s incredibly frustrating
To hear about the rabbit everywhere I go,
And to be unable to escape his reach.
On the day I finally spotted the rabbit,
He was running around a corner
Leaving me in the dust.
Just when I felt that he was too far away,
That I should give up,
He appeared out of nowhere.
His timing was always impeccable.

4.

When you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss also gazes at you.
How long have I been falling now?
Has it been hours, days, weeks, even months?
It doesn’t seem as if I’ll land soon.
I’ve grown used to the whistling wind in my ears,
And the loneliness of this dark hole.
(I have neither trust nor faith in others,
Why should I when they could take away my rabbit?)
Once in a while,
I see the rabbit at the bottom.
Whether it’s a trick of the eye,
Or the genuine article,
I guess I’ll know when I finally reach the End.
