I Am Water
I am the four states of water.
At the crack of dawn I am ice,
frozen to the point where I am unable to get out of bed.
But slowly throughout the day I melt,
slipping and sliding out of conversations
while weak and tired and lazy.
Just after dusk though, I transform into a plasma,
I become conscious of the world around me
and suddenly want to do anything and everything at once.
But soon I must sleep again, reluctantly… yet gladly.
As I drift off I become water vapor,
dreaming of a perfect world, or maybe a not-so-perfect one;
all the while floating high above human existence.
Gradually I will come down from the clouds,
unwillingly solidifying into ice once again.
