I wish to be a bird
the flapping of my wings as they pound through the air
as I travel from one place to the next
having no worries of who I leave behind.

I wish to travel like a bird
form the free world of America
across the endless rocky Atlantic
all the way to Europe.
Experiencing different cultures, and not depending on planes.

I wish to be a bird
with no obligations to return home
once I'm tired of a foreign beautiful place.

I wish to be a bird
different colors of the rainbow that fill my feathers
from oranges to reds to greens to blues.
The colors of my wings reflecting back at me as I sail smoothly across the water.

I wish to be as high as a bird
finding hidden spots on tall mountains that I only know about.
I wish to look down on people and see them go about their daily lives.
I wish to feel as if I'm on top of the world each and every day.

I wish to have the freedom of the bird
no regrets of who I leave behind
my wings bringing me free flights
no reason to book a plane ticket and wind around people as I quickly weave my way to the gate.

I wish to see
the top of the copper eiffel tower that stands proudly in Paris,
to sitting of the little hand on the Big Ben in London that chimes with the beginning of  second chances.
I wish to have the bird's eye view of mount everest, no heavy oxygen tank on my back, that might weigh me down.
All I would need would be the heavy warmth of my feathers on my back, that allow me to soar to the top.
I wish to see the clear blue waters of Thailand as a bird, soaring across and touching the water with the tips of my wings.
To the old castles spread all across Europe, swooping into the restricted areas finding what they want to keep from us.

I wish to be a bird
having the freedom of the wings that carry me to places of my deepest desires
each flap down and up bringing me closer to places that I long waited to see.
Wanting to have the earthly tones that fill the empty places on my feathers.
I wish to have the freedom of the bird, but I wish to be human.

I wish to be free.
