I wish to be an athlete,
working hard, making millions
soaring above the rest,
trying to be the best.

I wish to be a baseball player,
hitting home runs like it is nothing,
stealing bases, getting hits,
looking like an all star when I make a diving catch

I wish to be a basketball player
knocking down three pointers,
hitting game winning shots,
making the sweet passes.

I wish to be a football player
intercepting passes, jumping routes,
running down field,
locking down the receiver I’m supposed to be guarding

I wish to be a hockey player,
sniping goals past the goalie,
skating down the ice,
sacrificing my body to block shots.

I wish to be in the olympics
competition like no other,
the feel of the roaring crowd,
chanting your name.

I wish to be an athlete
working hard, making millions,
soaring above the rest,
to be the best.
