High Tide
Growing up together was a lot of fun.
Then randomly you decided you were done.
I was sad, seeing you a few times a year.
You called one day and I heard your voice so clear.
You have to go fight in Afghanistan now.
I believed in you not really knowing how.
You here was high tide but now it is so low.
The tide is so far out, it won’t even show.
Waiting, and waiting the tide slowly rolled in.
Nothing made me happier to see your grin.
Unfortunately, high tide didn’t last that long.
It wasn’t long before the water was gone.
I’m sinking in quicksand on this awful beach.
To you, somewhere, out there, I proceed to reach.
If high tide comes back I’m sure it will save me.
Come back, come back, and release me so I’m free.
I’m completely submerged, hoping you can dig.
High tide you’re freeing me, with a wave so big!
You came back to save me but then left so soon.
You were barely here long, thanks to the dumb moon.
