Freedom
This is a “found” poem from Martin Luther King Jr.’s Speech, “I Have A Dream”.
I am happy for freedom.
The great America, a light of hope to millions.
The lonely island in the midst of a vast ocean.
The sunlit path of racial justice.
America, again and again their destiny is part of our destiny.
America, an oasis of freedom and justice.
Little children live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin.
Little black boys and little black girls join hands with little white boys and white girls as sisters and brothers.
Our nation, a beautiful symphony of brotherhood.
We work together, pray together, struggle together, go to jail together, stand up for freedom forever.
Let freedom ring, let freedom ring, let freedom ring.
We allow freedom to ring, and we sing:
“Free, Free! Thank God almighty we’re free.”

I really like the way that I was able to incorporate my own personal feelings about America through Martin Luther King’s speech. I hope that people will see how great our country truly is, and that others will realize how blessed we are to be a free nation.
