It All Started When. . .

It all started when I was one,
when I lost someone I haven’t even grown to know.
She had no idea what was coming for her,
and neither did anyone else that night.     4

As she got into her car on a late night,
she got ready to come back home to her three young children.
But like a thief in the night,
Someone came by and took her life.    8

She was found early in the morning leaned over,
with a hole through the window leading to her head.
It was a horrific sight for anyone to see,
and even more for the family to hear.    12

It wasn’t really known then,
but this event would impact the three young children for the rest of their lives.
For not only would it leave them without a mother,
but also not knowing the love of one.    16

Then as the years went on,
everyone slowly learned to live again.
The family finally knew what it was like to smile once more,
but still haven’t found the one who stole the life of the mother.    20

And as if that wasn’t enough for the family,
the life of another loved one was close of being taken away.
The father of now the three adolescent children,
had a stroke the night of the youngest daughter’s birthday.    24

The family wept and held each other close,
trying to comfort one another as they shook.
The three children was finally grown enough to understand,
that the loss of a family member can slice the heart in two.    28

The family had to now deal with two tragedies,
trying to manage their tears as they tried to move on.
The father of the children was blessed to still be alive,
but had to live the rest of his life in a wheelchair since he was paralyzed.    32

Through many hospital visits for the father of the children,
a year has soon passed since the tragic event.
The family learned once again to live in their conditions,
taking care and wishing for the best for the father of three children.    36

It seemed as if nothing more could hurt or surprise the family,
until another life was taken away from them.
The grandfather of the now three adolescent children,
was ripped away from them to the cause of lung cancer.    40

The family seemed as if they had waterfalls coming from their eyes,
now having two deaths and one life almost taken away from them.
The family now thought as if they were cursed,
and soon the family no longer thought they could live in peace.    44

The children not only had to deal with their own personal problems,
but also having to come home and live in what is now a broken up home.
The family never seemed to be the same ever again,
and it was thought that things would ever get better for anyone.   48

They all lived in pain and agony for the past fourteen years,
knowing that they could never get their loved ones back.
They prayed every night for the bettering of not only the father,
but also for the two who were now up in the heavens. 52

Everyday got worse and worse for them all,
seeming as if nothing could happen to brighten up their lives.
Till one day a cousin of the now three young adults,
gave birth to a blue eyed baby boy.    56

The laughter of the baby boy was delightful to the ears,
and unknowingly brought ear-to-ear smiles on everyone’s faces.
The family was soon synchronizing their laughters together,
as they watched the baby with wondrous amusement.    60

This young boy brought happiness all throughout the family,
and has been ever since the day he was born.
The family could finally be found in happiness,
from the wonderful miracle of birth.    64

Then as life went on within the family that was torn apart,
they were all soon brought back together slowly.
They smiled and laughed more than before,
but still shedded tears from the memories of the past.    68

They began to realize that the past tragedies in their lives,
has only brought them closer together to one another.
They began to appreciate the love and accompany of each other,
not knowing if they would have someone else ripped away from them.    72

They lived everyday to it’s fullest,
and tried not to dwell on the past.
And even though the family wouldn’t be quite the same anymore,
they managed to cope with all that has happened.    76

The youngest daughter of the deceased mother and disabled father,
is the only one left of her three sisters in the household.
For the eldest moved out and the middle daughter married and moved away,
leaving behind the sister who was still unsure of all that has happened.      80

But even though she went through a lot in her life,
she lives to tell her adolescent life story the best way she knows.
And now she tells this story to all who want to hear,
beginning with the words, “It all started when. . . “    84
