Four Little Feet
Four little feet,
clumsily stomping
upon the larger
impressions left in the
wet sand ahead of them.
We were far from home.
Far from the cramped
bi-level nestled in the cradle
of the suburbs.
We were far from turmoil,
the sounds of muffled
yelling, heard from behind
thick bedroom doors.
Far from the tactile tension
of silent mornings.
We strolled along the beach,
free of all worry and pain
as our hair blew with the
salty air that pushed from the gulf.
