Broken Bottle and Guitar Pick
A broken bottle with sharp glass
Reflecting rainbows from the past
A faded label
Memories enabled
A shaking finger raises a guitar pic
And writes down another lyric
Scribbled letters and smeared blue ink
Reveal the thoughts only they can think
A shard flies
Once they realize
A string breaks
As they play out all of their mistakes
The pick seems so tiny
In the large fingers that shake from the memory
Another bottle snaps open
They guzzle and keep hoping
It’ll numb the pain
Or at least keep them from going insane
But the tension continues to build
The guitar pick can feel the thrill
Another string breaks
From tension it’s too thin to take
The bottle once again is drained
But their pain remains
Clenching fists
Give the bottle a twist
Glass shatters
Onto the lyric sheet blood splatters
All strings snap
But the pick remains between fingers despite of the mishap
