You thought I was fast like a french girl
Little did you know my nationality does not shine through
And that I have much more important features
Those which I do not have to prove to you
That is why this will not work.

This simply will not work I swear
You're broken heart
Is my despair
But my heart matters just the same
I need to feel true love again.

You thought that I always had the best intentions
Little did you know I would step on everyone's back
To get on top of that pyramid
I need to look out for myself
That is why this will not work.

This simply will not work I say
I served my heart upon a tray
and you dug in; your favorite dish
But now it is my only wish
To be myself again.

I wear a mask when I'm with you
My Harlem heart does not beat true
I feel as though my house will expand
When my theorem does not include you.
That is why this will not work.
