I Hate Performing
As a drummer, I must play.
For my own entertainment, it goes well.
But when others are brought into the equation,
Things just go down the drain.
I can practice and practice,
As much as I like,
But no matter how good I get at a song or a beat,
My efforts will always be met with defeat.
Up on a stage,
People will gaze,
At my every movement and action.
And yet when I do something wrong,
No
One
Cares.
This seems like a good thing,
That people think I did great,
But why get a reputation of lies?
I know I did bad,
But what makes me so sad,
Is that
No
One
Cares.
The audience loves it, no matter what,
No logic in their heads,
As they haven't seen me in practice
Where I am always a million times better.
If I were to have a perfect performance,
Where I never screwed up anything,
And all the on-the-spot fills lined up perfectly,
I would accept the praise whole-heartedly.
But until that day,
I will be met with dismay,
With the audience's cheers of something less than great.
And that is why I hate performing.
