Innocence
You arrived in the dark and slithered around. Preying on the young like a vicious beast. An unknown presence since evil makes no sound. Our bodies to you nothing but a feast. You survived off of our constant worries. Locked doors and dissent could not stop your sick urge. The tears causes some nights to become blurry. Needing some protection but lacking the courage. Showers no longer a safe haven for me. Windows used as a tool for your vile games. I became envious of the birds so free. While we're stuck with this pain that has no name.
If only I would've or could've, I mean I know I should've but I don't know what held me back. I could have stopped it weeks or months ahead but there was something I did lack. Some trait or something that would have let me speak. Some one or another could have helped to set us free. "It was only one time." rings In my ears like a bad song. Stuck on repeat constantly haunting me reminding me of how it will haunt her for the years to come. Reminding me of how young she still is. Reminding me of how I should have locked the door that night. Reminding me of how I should have just woken up. And constantly reminding me of how I could have helped her keep her innocence.
