Favorite Quote:
“Maybe our favorite quotations say more about us than about the stories and people we're quoting.”

I want to talk about love,
a basic human emotion,
how it can change lives
and open our eyes to new beginnings.

I want to talk about that special someone,
that one person you would do anything for.
The key that opens the door to happiness,
and gives life new meaning.
That one person whose flaws don’t matter,
with one look they shatter the constricting mirror of society,
and trivial characteristics fade away.
You don’t notice their height, weight, skin color,
gender.

I want to talk about the illusion of control.
How we crave and covet its comfort,
but can never quite clutch it.
We can’t control life,
or who we fall in love with,
because emotions are not a choice.

I want to talk about marriage,
the cherished union of
man
and woman,
bride and groom.

I want to talk about how this is not the only definition.
How marriage is a journey, a connection, an everlasting love
between two human beings,
not two genders.

I want to talk about equality,
fighting for what’s right.
Because we are all human,
we all love.
So what makes your love better?
More politically correct?

I want to talk about change.
How each day the world evolves,
problems are solved,
and we can make a change for the better.
We can rewrite the definition of marriage,
and love,
to include everyone.

I want to talk about love.
I want to talk about how I am a girl,
who is in love with a boy,
but that doesn’t make my love any better
than yours.
