Drift
You live in a two story house
with a basement of old
dog hair and regret, of old chocolate wrappers and bitter apologies.
Your life used to be
a never ending pirouette-
always in the same place.
Now it’s become a leap,
each step moving
farther and farther away
from me.
Who knew your burnt blonde hair
the same color as his
pale skin
could have hurt me
so many times.
Your best friend is now your boyfriend
and no one else.
To him,
you became the universe
and i’m just a star
drifting away
just as you did.
