Where I'm From
I am from pointed toes,
And stretched knees.
I am from dirty feet on wood floor.
I am from individuals in sync.
I am from loving each other,
Even if it’s secretly hatred,
Or hatred outside of home.
I am from mistakes,
And injuries.
I am from splinters on bases.
I am from bruises,
And blisters,
And bleeding.
I am from flexibility.
I am from bending in half,
To chin stands,
To shoulder stands,
To elbow stands,
To hand stands.
I am from progress.
I am from dedication,
And hard work,
And landing that back handspring,
Or aerial.
I am from competitions.
I am from platinum is pain,
And high gold isn’t enough.
I am from stress before going on stage,
To fierceness and power when on.
I am from best studio,
Which is also my home.

My dance studio inspired me for this poem. In school we had to write a poem about "Where I'm From" and this poem was so powerful to me I just kept writing and writing. My dance is like my second home and second family so I wanted to share this poem.
