My poem is about the feelings and what people don’t understand about and how hard and difficult my life is with my dad in the military. I have been in 6 different school districts, I have had to tell friends that I just made good-bye, because dad got orders to a different base in a different state or overseas. I’ve lived in a couple different states and in parts of Europe because dad got orders to Germany first. My parents are divorced so it makes it a little harder every time he gets deployed overseas. I worry and are scared of what might happen he is currently in Air Force special opps. and because of how high rank he is as well he is deployed on a mission he can talk about in Afghanistan for 6 to 8 months. Which normally means almost a year if not more and because of the reason he was deployed he can’t call, email, Skype, text, or write home, he can’t even have another military personnel even tell us if he is ok or anything. That is something no one understands unless you are in my place and unless you’re in my shoes you wouldn’t understand everything that makes me scared and worried when he goes to work. Even on base here there have been someone sneak on the plane. My dad has been shot and shot at and can’t tell us why. Being a military brat we have a website just for us so that we can talk to some people going through similar things. When everyone else who says they understand have no clue the pain, worry, how scared we are when our parents are military. I want to get out that unless you have gone through this and more that I’m not allowed to talk about my dad tells me sometimes. That is worse because he thinks it shows weakness then you don’t understand and you shouldn’t bug us about parents or why we are the way we are. A lot of us get bullied but they don’t know the half of it so this is a little bit of the life of a military brat. In this poem.
