I have always wondered,
Where is the good in goodbye?

Why is it called goodbye,
When all I feel is sadness?

Perhaps it is good,
Because you are letting go of an old piece of your life,
Letting you begin a new chapter of our short lives.

At the same time it isn’t good,
Because no one likes change,
No one likes the feeling of letting something go

As much as people dislike this word,
This word must be used.

Some goodbyes are harder than others,
But by saying goodbye, you are helping yourself become a better person

You give yourself a new start,
Even if it doesn’t feel like that when you first let go.

Everyone has felt the emptiness of goodbye;
Everyone knows how it feels.

If you ever meet someone who says they have never said goodbye,
Know that saying goodbye can be harder for others.

They could be in denial.

After all this thinking,
I realize that there is no good in goodbye.

There is no avoiding it either.

Goodbye is something everyone must go through to become a new person,
No matter how sad it may be.
