Tear catcher
A perfect picture
Of mutual love,
So it seems.
The boy and the girl
Sharing true loves kisses.
With a tear in her eye he comforts her,
Whispering cliché sweet nothings.
But love is only skin deep.
Love has many other interpretations.
Maybe he's not wonderful.
Maybe he's not perfect.
In fact
He's the monster.
He's the love killer.
She kisses and
She loves him.
She gives him what he wants.
She does it with a smile.
Though she knows he doesn't love her.
Though she knows he only wants one thing.
Though she knows
He only wants her attention.
He only wants her affection.
So with tear in her eye,
She gently caresses his lips with hers.
As if delicately sucking poison from a snake bite.
"I love you",
He lies.
"I love you too",
She doesn't.
Tear Catcher.
The term comes to mind.
That's all she is.
Though it is not her tears
That he is catching.
It is his spiritual tears
That she is catching.
She is a rebound.
She is a second choice.
But blinded by love
And immobilized by fear,
She stays.
She stays forever a tear catcher.
She stays forever his rebound.
She never learns to love herself.
She never learns to value herself.
Tear catcher,
When will you learn.
When will you break free.
Or tear catcher?
Will you forever remain,
A tear catcher?

I understand what it's like to be a rebound. I wrote this poem to express myself. I'm channeling my pain into something I love to do as an attempt at self healing. I hope you like my poem, and I hope it reminds you that you're not alone. There's other people who can relate to your struggles and empathize with you. If no one else has ever told you this, you're beautiful and I love you. You can do this. You can overcome you're obstacle in your life right now. I believe in you. Now go out there and just do you.
